Century Club Charities, host organization for the Sanderson Farms Championship, held its annual Birdies for Charity luncheon today at the Country Club of Jackson. In 2015, the Birdies for Charity grant program raised $287,087.25 for Mississippi charities based on 1,630 birdies made during the tournament. The top three charity participants for 2015 were Mississippi SIDS and Infant Safety Alliance, United Way of Leflore County, Inc. and Kindness Foundation.
“In 2015, Century Club Charities had 53 Mississippi charities participate in the Birdies for Charity program with a total of $287,087.25 collected, which is $35,000 more than 2014’s Birdies for Charity total. This total includes $50,000 in Bonus Bucks awarded to charity participants from Century Club Charities. We are encouraging other Mississippi charities to participate because it’s an opportunity to earn bonus bucks,” said Peter Marks, President of Century Club Charities.
“We are excited to announce the donations raised through the Birdies for Charity grant program. In addition, we are thrilled that Century Club Charities’ overall donation rose to $50,000 to support participating charities. These contributions make a significant impact to charitable organizations across the entire state of Mississippi,” said Steve Jent, Executive Director of the Sanderson Farms Championship.
Birdies for Charity is a fundraising program designed to give participating charities an opportunity to generate contributions for their organizations based on the number of birdies made by PGA TOUR players during the Sanderson Farms Championship. Every birdie made during the tournament helps to increase the total donation amount given to charities. Participating charities receive 100% of the donations collected for their charity and qualify for the Bonus Bucks program.
Bonus Bucks is an extra incentive to participating charities to generate as many pledges as possible. The format has a bonus pool that is proportionally split among all qualifying charities that collect a minimum of $3,000 in the Birdies for Charity grant program.
